Gaining My Religion

Premise: Does the world need another religion. Yes, one that is a life cult rather than a death cult.

Premise: Publicly, religion serves as a personal flag. A flag tells everyone which set of rules the ship is operating under. In this case, it tells the world which system of ethics you adhere to so they know what they're dealing with. A public declaration of your ethical operating system. You are to be judged by your adherence to your own proclaimed morality. In today's world, the term Christian no longer provides any guidance when dealing with someone who is claiming it. There is such a wide range of "Christians" that almost nothing is universally agreed upon amongst the various sects / denominations making the designation less than worthless. There is disagreement on the very basics such as, baptism, speaking in tongues, the salvation prayer, the existence of hell, which day to worship on, when or if Christ will return etc (list more) endless doctoral splintering

Premise: The afterlife is what most religions promise and from this proposition springs many horrors. People are more willing to fight and kill when they believe there will be rewards / forgiveness in the afterlife. Deferred responsibility, forgiveness for atrocities. Whether there is or is not an afterlife is not knowable. If you believe we are spiritual beings having a physical experience, then the point of life would be to physically experience it fully, not spend time concerning oneself with spirituality or the afterlife. clear Ethical boundaries without the baggage of inherited dogma

Premise: What is wrong with the world? Most people fail to human at a basic level. Real unmet human needs drive most suffering. Maslow The very basics are

  • Breathe - Humanity most commonly fails by breathing shallowly and unconsciously—relying on chest/mouth breathing instead of deep, nasal, diaphragmatic breaths. This leads to chronic low oxygen/CO2 imbalance, heightened stress, poor focus, and weakened resilience, as people treat breath as automatic background noise rather than the conscious foundation of presence and life.
  • Hydrate - The most common failure is inconsistent or reactive hydration—waiting until thirst hits (often too late), relying on caffeinated/sugary drinks that dehydrate further, skipping water-rich foods, or avoiding plain water altogether. This results in fatigue, headaches, impaired cognition, and reduced physical performance long before severe dehydration sets in.
  • Sleep - People most often fail through poor sleep hygiene and deprioritization—staying up late on screens/devices, irregular schedules (shift work, inconsistent bedtimes), consuming caffeine/alcohol late, stress rumination, or creating uncomfortable environments. This fragments rest, prevents deep recovery stages, and leaves individuals chronically tired, irritable, and less capable of caring for self or others.
  • Eat - Common failures include mindless/emotional overeating, relying on processed/ultra-processed foods high in sugar/salt/fats while skimping on whole foods (fruits, veggies, nuts, proteins), eating too fast/standing up, or late-night snacking. This disrupts stable energy, blood sugar, nutrient intake, digestion, and long-term health, fueling cravings, weight issues, and reduced vitality.
  • Move - Humanity typically fails via sedentary defaults—prolonged sitting (work, screens, commuting), lack of time/energy/motivation, fear of injury/boredom, or inconsistent habits—leading to muscle weakness, poor circulation, joint stiffness, mental fog, and cascading decline in overall function. Movement gets treated as optional "exercise" rather than essential daily flow for health and presence.

The hierarchy is not arbitrary, without breath you will die in minutes, without hydration in days, without sleep in weeks, without food in months, with insufficient movement perhaps years. These failures compound downward through the hierarchy: shallow breathing amplifies poor sleep, which worsens eating choices, which saps energy for movement, and so on.

This is not a new approach to spirituality, it is an approach to physicality. Get connected, to this world, to your body, to the present, to the now. Embodiment! Endgame is embodied flourishing — Victory/fulfillment = maximized physical/relational health for self + loved ones + broader circle. Suffering comes from neglecting basics or poor ethics toward others.
